This week it's BOOK WEEK SCOTLAND and Jelly & Gin worked with The Scottish Book Trust to launch this week-long celebration of books and reading with a load of reading-related sensory treats and novel themed deliciousness!
In the specially created NOVEL BAR we served "Book Beer" to highlight A Book and a Beer event - a get-together that puts the focus on reading in a social environment. We worked with Barney's Beer to create the brew.
We served Book Genre Cakes to highlight the range of events happening over the course of the week - with a floral Romance Cake, a concrete grey block Science Fiction Cake, a Mystery (guess the flavour!) Cake, a Crime Cake (Red velvet) and a Pastiche cake which was gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and egg free!
To highlight the hunt for the country's favourite book-to-screen adaptation in the Scottish Book-to-Screen Vote we created the aromas of various books including The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Whisky Galore, Sherlock Holmes and not for the faint-hearted Trainspotting!
All listed are either film or television adaptations of books set in Scotland or written by Scottish authors.
Secrets & Confessions is this years theme for an ongoing campaign to get the nation writing and reading. The free book has been distributed far and wide across Scotland. We worked with the talented chocolatiers Edward & Irwyn to make caramel filled chocolate keys.
